Tell Sackett SASS 18436 Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Haven't laughed so much in days! Of course, we didn't do much better on European countries. On the other hand, our states don't CHANGE all the time, like a lot of their countries.
Utah Bob #35998 Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 9 out of 10 college graduates can't identify either states or European countries.
Blackwater 53393 Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 The one that labled Tennessee as Chicago had me rolling around on the floor. And yess! I can name most of the countries on the European map. Some have changed names and borders in the last few years, so I don't know them all.
Chili Ron Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Howdy, I noticed not one, not even ONE TRIED to name that state north of lake Michigan and south of Canada. We know it as da U.P. Best CR
Rancho Roy Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 I'd like to see ANY American identify the counties in Great Britan............. Just saying.....
John E. Law Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 I'd like to see ANY American identify the counties in Great Britan............. Just saying..... Um, I think this was satire? I.e. an attempt at humor. I don't believe it was an intended to challenge the geograpical abilities of the populace. JEL
Henry T Harrison Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Most Americans can’t even name the provinces of Canada let alone place them in theright place. Asking who the Prime Minister is, is a joke.
Trailrider #896 Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Haven't been able to name the PM of Canada since Pierre Trudeau. I doubt 99.99 percent of Americans could name a shire or define the boundaries of the countries composing the U.K., either. What is shameful is the number of Americans who couldn't fill in the map of the U.S. correctly!
Utah Bob #35998 Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Um, I think this was satire? I.e. an attempt at humor. I don't believe it was an intended to challenge the geograpical abilities of the populace. JEL It's humorous for sure, but not satire. And check out the thread of the Americans trying to fill in European countries,. Even funnier.
Harvey Mushman Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Humorous, and to be expected outside one's own borders. But: In this day and age, where incredible information is available at your fingertips, round the clock, why do so many know so much less about the world than their ancestors...... And te Brits are far better in this regard than we are.
Matthew Duncan Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Daughter and son in law live in D.C. Wife explains to me that they took an international flight to Hawaii for Thanksgiving (His side of the family). I asked why an international flight? Because they went to Hawaii! No the wife isn't a blonde.....
