Blufrost
Ok so I came across a cheap 97. Under $200 which is unheard of. So it needs and action job to be a cowboy gun. I have two by Coyote Cap. Was wanting to know who else does good work with these bad boys. I now have 3 complete working guns and parts to build 3 more. I think I have an affliction. Maybe maybe not. Thanks for the input

Thanks for the input Joe Brisco - Cowboy Shooter Supply - he does very good work. I own 6 (from a 1900 Solid Frame to a 1935 take down) and did all the action work, cut down the barrels and added a large front bead myself which is quite easy. marauder13056@yahoo.com has some very good info if you are able to do basic gunsmithing. But, they are good folks for sure. They do a lot of work on the IAC 97's as well.

John Barleycorn, SASS #76982
Don't waste your money on action work on a Chinese 97. Just back the main spring off a little, put it in the 97 rotation and shoot it a bunch.
Edward R S Canby, SASS#59971
Squibber in Arizona. +1 Not only did he perform an excellent action job but also fixed some manufacturing defects in my Chinese-made '97. I'm handing him another to work on at Winter Range.

Widder, SASS #59054
'HONESTY' is what you'll get out of nearly all our CAS type reputable gunsmiths. If you hand a Chinese made 97 to a reputable smith and he says he can slick it up good and reliable, then he probably can. If that particular gunsmith can't give you good service, he'll probably also tell you up front. I've heard nothing but good things about the smiths mentioned above. Go for it! ..........Widder

Phantom, SASS #54973
Don't waste your money on action work on a Chinese 97. Just back the main spring off a little, put it in the 97 rotation and shoot it a bunch. You wouldn't even change out the left hand extractor...or ejector spring...no polishing???? Ok... T.L Jim Bowie CAP and the other's listed are all reputable folks...can't go wrong! Cheers! Phantom
Widder, SASS #59054
Shucks, my Chinese made 97's were 'smoothed and tweaked' by a couple different gunsmiths and I thought I got good gunsmith services. They run pretty dern good and reasonably fast ..... ..........Widder
