Subdeacon Joe
That's what it will be on Monday. Ninety-five years since the end of "The Great War." Not quite half the life of our nation. Not very long ago.

Capt. James H. Callahan
One of humanity's darkest chapters. All the lives wasted, and accomplished little except to set the stage for the next War to End all Wars. And to ratchet carnage up to a whole new level. Mack Hacker, #60477
If you are anywhere near Hamilton TX, you might want to witness a true American tradition Monday morning. An anvil shoot will take place at 5:00 AM to announce the end of The World War. This is 11:00 in France. The anvil shoot was used to announce it on that morning, and every year since. It can be seen(and heard of course) at the American Legion Post on US Hwy 281, just north of Hamilton. They will be using the same anvils that were used 95 years ago, and every year since. Nasty Newt # 7365
The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. And the depressing thing is, they kept fighting while waiting for the 11th hour to roll around. 10,000 died on the last day. Every life lost in that war was wasted, but to keep sending guys over the top on the morning of the 11th was just crazy.
