Subdeacon Joe Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 That time of year. www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYlrrAWCTRg The story behind the song:On November 11, 1999 Terry Kelly was in a Shoppers Drug Mart store inDartmouth, Nova Scotia. At 10:55 AM an announcement came over thestore's PA asking customers who would still be on the premises at 11:00AM to give two minutes of silence in respect to the veterans who havesacrificed so much for us.Terry was impressed with the store'sleadership role in adopting the Legion's "two minutes of silence"initiative. He felt that the store's contribution of educating thepublic to the importance of remembering was commendable.Wheneleven o'clock arrived on that day, an announcement was again madeasking for the "two minutes of silence" to commence. All customers, withthe exception of a man who was accompanied by his young child, showedtheir respect.Terry's anger towards the father for trying toengage the store's clerk in conversation and for setting a bad examplefor his child was later channeled into a beautiful piece of work called,"A Pittance of Time". Terry later recorded "A Pittance of Time" andincluded it on his full-length music CD, "The Power of the Dream". Quote
Forty Rod SASS 3935 Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 I really need to get a copy of that disc. The first time I heard it in about 2002 was the first time I really cried since '69. Quote
