Subdeacon Joe Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Stolen from Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1429522757269044&set=a.1423690701185583.1073741826.1423586844529302&type=1&theater Salty Dad To all those calling for gun control and "gun free zones", I ask a very simple series of questions:- How many gunfights have you been in?- What is your subject matter expertise when it comes to violence, armed combat, or Law Enforcement? Do you have any real experience withcombating violence, the criminal mindset, or the violently mentally ill?- What facts are you basing your opinion on? Or, areyou simply running on emotion, and parroting what someone else tellsyou? And, if you are, what actual experience do the people whoseopinions you are parroting have? The opinion on the left waswritten by a close friend. It was written quickly, and with raw emotion. He is the man in the middle picture. He is a a former member of USMCFAST Co, and has spent the last ten years, in combat, in Iraq andAfghanistan. I have spent the majority of my adult life policing some ofthe worst ghettos in my area. I am the one on the far right. He hasmany years of actual combat experience. I have many years of actualexperience with violence, criminals, the violently mentally ill, and howwell criminals follow the law. Both of us are of the samemind..."gun free zones" are an abject, unmitigated failure. They simplydo not work. In fact, they actually encourage violence...becausecriminals and crazies know they can dominate and kill without fear ofanyone standing in their way. Every mass shooting since 1990 hasoccurred in a "gun free" zone. (If you want to argue that the Giffordsshooting wasn't in one, consider this...It occurred in the midst of abunch of liberals, who voluntarily disarmed themselves. It was a selfimposed "gun free zone".)He and I both know that the one thingthat will stop a motivated individual with a weapon...is anothermotivated individual with a weapon. Criminal and crazy don't follow thelaws that you do. A goofy, pathetic sign does nothing to stop them. Theywant their victims to be unable to fight back. When presented with anarmed response, they generally kill themselves, or give up. They do notwant to fight...they want unfettered access to helpless victims.I have found nine examples of mass shootings stopped by a quick, armed response.- Pearl High School 10/1/1997- Parker Middle School Shooting 4/28/1998- The Appalachian School Of Law 1/16/2002- The New Life Church 12/9/2007- The Trolley Square Mall 2/12/2007- The Golden Market 7/19/2009- The New York Mills AT&T 5/27/2010- The Clackamas Mall 12/11/2012- The San Antonio Theater 12/16/2012The first rule of a gunfight is....Have a gun, NOT wait for someonewith a gun to arrive, and hope you don't die in the process. An onscene, armed response is the key to stopping these events, with aminimum loss of life.It is time that hoplophobes stop livingin a fantasy world. "Gun Free" zones are only gun free until criminal orcrazy decides otherwise. The anti gun crazies need to stop thinkingthat everyone is as passive as they are, and realize that evil doesexist. Instead of listening to clueless "activists", moronicpoliticians, or the emotion laden histrionics of people that live in afantasy world, maybe it is time to listen to those who have actualexperience, and subject matter expertise.Perhaps, youhoplophobes love your children less, and are willing to sacrifice themin the name of "progress". Perhaps, your political goals are onlyrealized with numerous dead children on TV. Perhaps, you people are moreconcerned with "feeling safe", than actually having your childrenprotected. Those scenarios are the only ones that can explain thecontinued push for a policy that is not only a complete failure, butalso jeopardizes lives and encourages violence. One finalquestion.....When was the last time you heard a story about a criminal,or a violently mentally ill subject being deterred by a "gun free" zone?I though so..... Virgil Ray Hality, SASS# 37355 Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 It sure makes me wonder what state of mind the "gun free advocate" is in, to really want to back such a failing concept. Quote
