Colorado State Championship match, July 3-6, 2014

Well I don't know about you all, but I can tell that I'm starting to get REALLY excited about this match, I'm even dreaming about it. While I'm asleep even! :D

Several have asked me about the schedule for two waves. As I understand it that plan was made in case the number of shooters required it. Unless we get a complete deluge of entries between now and match time, one wave is all that is needed and will be used. But we still have lots and lots of room, the more the merrier!

Whats the Magic number for two waves?

Whats the Magic number for two waves?

I don't know for sure, but I would imagine it's well over 200. With a posse size of 18 we could accommodate 216 shooters over 12 possies..

While personally I would prefer not to have multiple waves as I don't like shooting in the afternoon, it would sure be a hoot to have this match see that need at some point in the future.

It's often easier to scale back plans than expand them.

Wow, hard to believe the match is only about two weeks away!

As match officials are likely to be at the range the week leading up to the match, all entries sent by US postal service should be mailed by this weekend, Monday, June 23rd at the very latest to ensure that they will be processed. For entries after that date, please email the match director, Red River Wrangler, with the Names, Alias's, SASS numbers, categories, Social tickets needed, camper info, and all the other info on the entry form and bring a completed registration form along with payment to the match. Please include a contact phone number in case there are any questions.

Contact info for Red River Wrangler is on the bottom of the registration form.

*** Entries are welcome up to the start of the main match. ***

As it gets closer to match time, posse requests will be harder to make work, but we will do our best. Last minute entries in underpopulated or unpopulated categories will be announced at the awards, but we may not have awards to give out at that time.

YeeHaw this is gonna be fun, c'mon out and join us!

If you have any questions at all, feel free to contact me and I'll do my best to answer them.

Quoted so it didn't get lost at the end of the previous page.

Still time to sign up!

work at the range is progressing nicely. The boot hill stage has been cleaned up, fences mended and painted and it's ready to start the buryin' :D The all new Mercantile building has been sealed, trimmed out, and trim painted. The fort and Marshall's office got a coat of water seal as well and are looking great. The all new Barber shop saw the siding complete and trim work started if not done, and will be painted this week. Lots of the signs and what not that will direct folks where to go were pulled from storage and painted. With the match two weeks away things are starting to take shape!

C'mon out and join us for a fun filled Independence day weekend!

I figure I'm doomed, I know I can't outrun my shadow, much less anyone else :D

The who's coming list has been updated, up to 154, and I know of 3 more who have said they are coming but aren't on the list yet, plus a handful of definite maybes. So it's looking to be around 160 folks!

At this late a date, delivery of entries via the USPS before match officials head to the range Friday to begin final details is doubtful at best. So if you are coming please contact either RRW via phone or email with details from the entry form, and bring a completed entry and payment to the range with you next week. Contact info for RRW is on the bottom of the entry form. You can also email me and I will forward the info to him. He will have his hotspot at the range, but likely won't have time to check email more than once every day or two during the week.

If at all possible, let us know you are coming by Monday, June 30th so we will have all the appropriate name badges, awards, counts for lunches, etc. Entries will be accepted up to match time, but it would really help us out if we knew you were coming by Monday.

Counting down the days til we get to go have fun.

I'm off work today, and headed out to my wood shop to work on a few things that will be given away during the match if I get them done. Not gonna say what, but the folks I ran the idea by said they'd love to win such items...

If I get them done I'll post pictures.

Still time to sign up! See the posts above for info on late registrations.

Hope to see you all there!

The who's coming list has been updated, 159 shooters on the list and the MD has been notified of 4 more that are on the way for 163! YeeeHawww!

If you are coming please call the Match Director and give them your particulars and bring payment to the range when you come. Phone number is on the bottom of the entry form. If possible, give them a call by Monday June 30th as name badges are being prepared, but even if you miss that date, give a call and come on out!

I have a prize announcement! I am just about done making 4 pistol racks that will be given away at the match! My thought is to give two away at Casino night and draw for the other 2 among all shooters, but I'll leave those details up to the MD.

Still a little work to do on them, but here's a picture...

Thank ya kindly, I'm more of a wood butcher, but I try. Haven't done much lately with the high price of hardwood and CAS catching my interest and hobby time.

Eidt - I'll cut dadoes into the bases for the uprights to sit into, a little sanding a little glue and a clear finish and I'll call them done. Winners can add felt if they so desire.

Jack - 1911s fit very well in them, as do cowboy guns. Some of the fatter double stack semi's might be tight, but I didn't have any on hand to test with, so I went with what was easiest for me to make. I'm looking forward to seeing how they look with a coat of finish on them as that will really bring out the grain in the woods.

Still time to sign up folks! Call Red River Wrangler today! Phone number is on the bottom of the entry form which can be found on the event webpage.

Just a reminder to folks as they drive in, the small towns you'll be passing thru to get to the range take their speed limits VERY seriously, so should we.

Here are the racks assembled and ready for some finish tomorrow. 4 of those are to give away at the match, one is for me, good thing too as I had a minor mishap with one of the bases during assembly, I'll keep that one.

Had planned to make myself 2, but had to call a P on myself cuz I somehow messed up the parts count during manufacturing.

Some folks like finishing, I don't. Brushed a quick coat of poly on the racks and after I go back this afternoon and do the undersides I'll call them done. Not perfect, but hey, those that get one will get it for free.

Still time to get in on the fun! Give Red River Wrangler or Sweet Lil a call today! Phone number is on the bottom of the entry form.

To quote the beautiful and talented Miss Nellie Blue....

Is it time to shoot yet???

Speaking of Miss Nellie, I don't see her name on the who's coming list.... Nellie, where are you???

Still time to sign up folks, call Red River Wrangler or Sweet Lil, phone numbers on the bottom of the entry form on the Pawnee Station website, or PM me and I'll get you hooked up.

Just got a report from the range, still lots going on out there as the time grows short.

The mud puddle that Calico lovingly called lake Pawnee is now history thanks to some warm temps and a little dirt. Nothing is going to stand in our way!

Still time to sign up folks!

From memory, here at the stages to whet your apitite a bit...

Boot Hill cemetary

Merchantile (all new enclosed building with lots of doors and windows to play with)

The Fort - A classic, complete with canons

The Marshall's office

The Hotel - this is a new one on me, I didn't get down to bay 5 to see what this was like, but I bet it's great!

The Mine - the Matte Blaylock mine makes a return this year

The Depot - all aboard for a great stage here at Pawnee Station

The Saloon - what western town would be complete without one?

The Barber Shop - This stage was completely rebuilt and now has a roof for shade and lots of room to play with, I can't wait to shoot from it, but I'm kinda worried about what happens there after the shooting...

The Box cars - shoot thru the box car doors

The Livery - this is an all new facade this year and looks great!

The encampment - We've pitched our tents for a good nights rest, but there is trouble afoot!

12 different bays, 12 different stage fronts and props = A WHOLE LOT OF FUN!

Come on out and join us!
