Hey Grizz. I am looking hard at this one. Is there camping at the range? Are there hookups? Do we need to make reservations? Looks like a good plan to go up from ABQ after EOT. We will have RV so need to plan.

camping on the range yes, but no hookups. didn't seem to matter much at last year's annual....all of us staying at the range still had a great time, especially at the pot luck! ;)

Like Calico said, lots of dry camping at the range, no hookups. Space assignment is on first come first parked basis to avoid having to jockey late comers in amongst those already parked from what I understand. There is a space on the registration form to note what length and kind of camper you have to that they can be sure to mow enough of the field to accommodate everyone.

C'mon out, I think you'll have a wonderful time!

It is still bad timing with EOT and the State, A lot of us have to work and have a hard time trying to make it.

I am planning on being there... :excl::excl: I hope to get there early enough to do the side matches this year. :D seems I just missed them last year because we thought they were to end at 2:00 pm... :o

Kindest regards,

On behalf of the Pawnee Station Vindicators, I am pleased to announce that they will be hosting the Colorado State Championship match to be held July 3-6, 2014!!

Pawnee Station shoots at the Great Guns Sporting facility in Nunn, Colorado. This facility is ideal for a large match such is this. There is ample dry camping at the range, facilities for cowboy clays and long range, and any other side match a cowboy could dream up. There are 13 bays in the cowboy range in the volcano crater, each with full side berms that allow down range movement on each stage if the match director so desires. The number of bays also allows that all 12 stages of the match can each have a bay. It also means that the match could host at least 240 shooters without having to go to two shifts. For those who prefer a bunkhouse in town, there are hundreds of rooms 20 minutes or so from the range in nearby Fort Collins and Wellington.

Mark your calendars now, this is gonna be a great match!!! I hope to see you there!!

Information and registration forms are now available on the Pawnee Station website.

Sounds like a good time. Just moved to OK so its a lot closer than it was when I was in WA. Probably won't consider it until y'all get rid of those gun hating politicians tho. Not spending my $$$ in a state that doesn't want it.

Bones - We have gotten rid of some of them, as you well know if you have followed events here. There is only so much that can be done, and trust me we are doing all that we can. It is your choice to boycott if that is what you feel is right for you to do. I just ask you this, with all of the gun hating politicians in the federal government, are you boycotting all US made products and services as well?

If anyone wants to flame me for my comment above, please do it via PM, this thread is about an awesome match, not to voice opinions on current events or politics.

Howdy!

Looking forward to being down there! :)

I should probably stay in town because I won't be able to fly from France with my camping stuff... Too bad!

Shooting without camping is half fun!

Gardner Kid, for those that travel from match to match, such as the Australians and others, having big matches back to back allows them to get in more shooting on their trip. Folks will have 3 or 4 days to make it from EOT up to Nunn which is at worst a day and a half drive pulling a trailer, or 8 hours in a car. It may not be ideal for everyone, but it has proven to be successful in the past.

I am looking forward to this match a whole lot even though I have the pleasure of shooting at Pawnee Station every month. Awesome props, great stages, great people.

How many Aussies shoot there??????I think about a half dozen shoot EOT..........Right after EOT is bad for me.....We can't shoot Buff Stampede mothers day..tooo many people have stuff to do..gee????? .How many folks plan things to do on the FOURTH of JULY?????????......I just don't get it.....P.S. TT ..There is always about 25 -30 Aussies that shoot EOT mate! The biggest international group always, & besides we have the honour of having the World Champion at present. :P

Many a year before Hell on Wheels was the weekend after EOT and worked out great for the international shooters. In fact the last time I was at HOW it was the 4th July & my lovely lady Kathouse Kelli's birthday is the FOURTH of JULY!!! She couldn't have had it better, what a party.??

You must be the only one its bad for TT, but you know the old saying, you can please some of the people all of the time, and you can please all of the people some of the time,..but you can never please all of the people all of the time!!

Maybe next year it will work out better for you,,...if not & you go I'll see you there........happy trails. :D

Jack.

Hi Calico,

Yea I will check out who wants to go.

We're coming up but we're not even going to EOT this year. In fact we're moving to OKC in April for a quite a spell in the USA, with all our other expenses we thought we'd give EOT a miss, considering the cost, but we'll probably go next year when we're more settled.

Looking forward to catching up with the pards from CO SC from last year.

Grizz, how soon do you guys need our entries? I am trying to work out the logistics and money to see if I can swing two travel matches. I am gonna shoot in May at the Butterfield Gulch match, but your match looks like a blast so I am hoping to make it too. Timing works good with the holiday in there

Stirrup, this is from the entry form:

"The first 200 shooters registered by June 1st , 2014 are guaranteed a spot on the roster. No Refunds after June 15th , 2014."

"On June 1st Men’s categories with less than 4 competitors and ladies categories with less than 3 competitors may be eliminated. Effected shooter’s will be notified and given the option of choosing another category or receiving a refund."

It does not however give a deadline for when your entry must be in. If you are really concerned about it, I would suggest getting ahold of Red River Wrangler and talking to him, his contact info is on the entry form, available on the Pawnee Station website. It would be great to have you if you can work it out. ;)

The Saturday night dinner at the Full Moon Saloon is an extra $15, but last year it was well worth it! The food was good, the casino games were fun, and the companionship couldn't be beat!

You guys talked me into it. Life is too short to not get out to do some fun things sometimes. Entry form filled out and will be on the stage this week. I just need to find a cheap place to stay

Is there an estimated round count yet? Just want to make sure I am not short for the side matches or main match

12 stages times 10-10-4 makes it 120 pistol, 120 rifle, 48 shogun or there abouts. There's likely to be some different rounds counts on some stages, but that is a good estimate. Of course bring plenty more for side matches.

Need to send in my own form too, that would be a heck of a deal to have to show up to get shaved and not be able to shoot cuz I didn't send in my form in time :D

Thanks, Grizz. Check is written and entry goes on the stage tomorrow before something else comes up to take the money, and vacation request is in. Hope to see you then, and maybe we can shoot together

Hey ST, we're booked in at the Motel 6 in Fort Collins just off the highway, reasonable rate & close to the road to the range. That's the cheapest one I could find, but as with most motels I've found I place a bomb (one of those insect ones) in the room, then come back in an hour????? :D:D

Grizz, are you gonna do an advertisement video like last year? That was fun to watch. I am trying to recruit another shooter to ride down with me, and that might help. I showed him last year's video, and he was intrigued, but curious about what was planned for this year

Yeah, that's on my list of stuff I need to get done, along with a bunch of reloading and such. I just can't seem to find any round tuits!

I have a couple days off coming up, maybe I'll see what I can throw together...

HERE are some pictures of the stages from last years Shootout at Pawnee Station, and HERE are some more pictures from the match and the MATCH FLYER details what is planned.
