Hey Chickasaw Bill

Recommended Posts

Well, looks like this week is going down the tube. I had hoped to make it over to Yakima this Friday, but looks like I will have to put that off. I might just go scout out the Beckler or the South Fork of the Sky for some trout fishing with the 5 wt.

I bought 1000 bullets at the match Saturday, I really should get them loaded up.

I have enough to last me a month or two, but having cases ready to load kind of

calls to me to get them done, and having a big pile of loaded ammo is really cool.

Da Gremlins did it.

Got my reel all set for some yarn and marabou egg patterns for the river.

Need to get me a spool of OX fluorocarbon for the leader.

Gonna run three feet of OX off my 8 wt. sink tip with a size 6 fly.

Rivers are moving up but still low and clear.

With all of the pinks in the river and now the coho, wish me luck on the ironjaws.

Pinks were jumping in the river this afternoon. Turned out to be a beautiful day. Cool and crisp and sunny. Air was warmed by the sunshine. Fish in the river. Captain Jack and me taking it all in. What a beautimus day.

I didn't fish.

Took the rod but all of the rocks were occupied.

The river is waaaaay low and the salmon (Pinks and now coho) are in.

No ironjaws yet to speak of.

Rains are due back so, maybe some more water.

May run over to the lake this morning and see if I dance with a trout or bass.

Wed had a cool spell night before last. I lost my planter flowers.

Went over to Cottage Lake and two guys were fishing. One in a float tube with

a fly rod, and the other off the pier with gear.

The gear guy was just rigging up and the float tube guy was dredging nymph I guess.

Anyway, there were a few swirls on the surface and I suspect that they were taking

BWOs off the surface or hatching just below the surface. I did not see any bug activity

on the water and it was still pretty early. Around 0900 hours or so.

Take the fish outta the freezer Bill. Time for a fish fry.

Battered deep fried onions, fried taters, some big chunks of cod, halibut or catfish.

Cold beer to warsh it all down.

there be a little Walleye , Crappie , and some White Bass in the freezer ,

BUT , they sure don't be enough to feed this crowd of chowhounds

gotta go to the store , to get taters and ounions , did not plant any this year

thoughts are turning to putting red meat in the freezer ,

with the lake as messed up as it is , the fish ain't biting very well

It was kinda nice to get out Thurs for a bit even though , it was slow :)

Well, I guess I can put the fly rod away for today. We are expecting lots of rain, and WIND!

Probably sit at the vise and tie some today. Fill up my woolie bugger box and then some green

butt skunks.

Me too. After lunch I plan to that the Blue Racer and head up to the river. Too many guys on the river on the week end

so I may go Monday or Tuesday. Depends on how Momma is doing and what I have on the honey dew.

that ain't good , luckly we did not have a lot of wind ,

got some rain , seens to be clearing out now

with the rivers coming up that much , what is it going to do to the fishing ?

I don't understand , what affects the salt run fish , seems to me it should turn on the bite

Well the river is full of salmon. The steelhead follow them. But they have not shown up as yet. Perhaps the rain will bring them in.

The pinks have been fishing well, so I am told. The coho, not so well. Never seen a lot of luck with silvers on the fresh water.

If you come to fish, bring your own rock.

Bottom fell out of the barometer

Skykomish river went from 2000 cu ft/min yesterday at 0900 to 18000 cu ft/min this morning.

It was just under 5 feet at the gauging station at that time. Now it is at 12 feet.
