(Gules, 6 bars Argent, on a canton Azure, 50 mullets of 5, arranged 6 and 5, Argent) No, he said he had BEEN to 57 states and had one to go, not counting AK and HI. So, 60 states. That 20% graveyard vote he is used to from Chicago. Not doubting you Subdeacon Joe, but there are 13 stripes; one for each of the 13 original states. As designed by the boys of '75, that is correct. (1st Naval Jack had 13 stripes and a lovely snake)The East India Company flag also had from 9 to 13 stripes. This was the flag that was hauled down from the masts of the 3 ships raided during the Boston Tea Party in 73. Probably provided the basis for the original American banner.
