Dusty Balz, SASS#46599 Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Gents, that time of year again when the bad boys of aviation take to the skies over the Nevada Desert. I have been there for the past 25 years, never had the chance (cash) to actually race. Al though I am lucky enough to have friends that race (Super Sport and Jet (L-39). Below is a video from last years Super Sport Silver Race shot from a helmet cam in Race "55". Off to the left and mostly in front is my friend Burt's Red and White Lanceair, "Race 99". We had a small problem with a gear door not closing completely cost us some knots, no matter what it's still fun if you're into airplanes.
Clay Mosby Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 The Reno Races are on my bucket list. My Dad and I used to go every year when they were at Fox Field down near Lancaster, CA.
Hardpan Curmudgeon SASS #8967 Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 How's the smoke situation, Dusty....?
Dusty Balz, SASS#46599 Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 Have a friend in Lemon Valley posted this AM, cool and clear, visibility from Stead to Pevine and Mt Rose, as of today all is looking good, Qualifying starts on 9-9, keeping our fingers crossed the firefighters can increase the containment. Pray for the well being of the smoke jumpers, fire bomber crews, RAIN and some favorable winds.
