St. Louis Suomi SASS #31905 Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Howdy: Does anyone know of a manufacturer of replacement springs for the Ruger Old Army? Specifically the Cylinder Latch Spring. It appears that mine are getting old and are not pushing the cylinder latch up (this is the bolt for those who use that name). If anyone has one for sale, I sure would be interedted in purchasing one. Brownells and Midway and RUger do not have any at all. STL Suomi Quote
Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933 Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 It's the same spring that's on all Ruger's single actions. You can order one for the Vaquero. Have you tried taking the gun apart and cleaning the insides? That spring doesn't fail very often. Quote
St. Louis Suomi SASS #31905 Posted August 19, 2013 Author Posted August 19, 2013 (edited) Howdy: Thanks Larsen! No! I haven't disassembled it yet - will do that tomorrow morning. Since this gun is a safe queen from the previous owner, I would be surprised if it was dirty. I would not be surprised ifit has bee diddled by a furball in its history however. Is the cylinder latch similar to another model...or is it unique to the ROA? STL Suomi Edited August 19, 2013 by St. Louis Suomi SASS #31905 Quote
Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933 Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Sorry, I made a BIG error. The latch/bolt spring is NOT like the Vaquero. It is not a coil. It is a wire spring. Check to see if the end that hooks into the frame has come unhooked. Quote
Boggus Deal #64218 Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 I have some if you can't find any. Feel free to PM me and I will fix you up. Quote
St. Louis Suomi SASS #31905 Posted August 19, 2013 Author Posted August 19, 2013 Howdy Bogus: Let me check what's up tomorrow after I disassemble the Ruger. If you wish to disclose a price on a spring my email is vaarg@juno.com. And thanks for the response. STL Suomi Quote
