Subdeacon Joe
http://mobile.reuters.com/article/article/idUSBRE97G01M20130817?irpc=932 NEWARK, New Jersey (Reuters) - New Jersey Governor Chris Christie onFriday vetoed legislation that would have banned .50-caliber rifles fromthe state, infuriating gun control activists who said that he wasbowing to political pressure from the right. The move comes a week after Christie signed into law 10 lesscontroversial gun violence bills that were backed by gun controladvocates, including bans on the sale of firearms to people on federalterrorism watch lists and increased penalties for firearms use. But Christie said the prohibition on .50-caliber rifles would outlaw a weapon that had never been used in a crime in New Jersey. "Tellingly, the legislature points to no instance of this class offirearms being used by even a single criminal in New Jersey," he said."The wide scope of this total ban, therefore, will not further publicsafety, but only interfere with lawful recreational pastimes." And of course, the anti-civil rights side said: "I can only assume Governor Christie caved to the extremists who opposeany common sense gun violence prevention effort," Barnes said. If it hasn't been used in violent crime, then banning it won't prevent a darned thing! What the hell is "common sense" about that? Link to comment

Muleshoe Bill SASS #67022
I LOVE the way the term "common sense" is tossed about to make the appearance that anyone who opposes their ideology is some sort of nonsensical maniac. Common sense is not so common. Link to comment
