Hoss
I just bought a Marlin 1865 LTD IV in 45-70. It has screw holes in tang about 7/16 apart. I want to put a Lyman #2 tang sight on it. A pard here on the wire has one to sell, screw holes on it are 7/8" apart, but there is some sort of adapter with it. but I'm not 100% sure it will fit the pre-drilled holes. Apparently the LTD edition rifles are slighly different than the "standard" 1865 rifles. Anybody have any experience with this?
Saguaro Kid
I put a Marbles sight on my Marlin 336 Cowboy in 38-55 and never drilled the second hole. It is held in place by the single tang screw and has never been a problem coming loose. One thing to think about is whether the sight will fold down to clear the bolt when you remove it for cleaning. I know this isn't the perfectly correct way of doing it but it works for me. Have fun with your new rifle. SK
