By now you’ve probably heard about Jared Marcum, the 14 year old boy who was arrested for obstructing an officer who was responding a call by Jared’s school, because Jared was wearing an NRA t-shirt. At the time of the event I’m sure most people, myself included, thought the arrest would probably be dismissed, however, earlier thismonth, prosecutors decided to move forward with the case. Obviously, charging a 14 year old boy over an incident that startedover a shirt has generated some press coverage. Now prosecutors havethreatened Jared with a gag order, which they only rescinded after Jaredwaived his right to privacy (due to the fact that he is a minor),according to WOWKTV. WOWKTV has been the local news organization covering this story fromthe beginning. The news station tried to intervene in the case, but wasmet with resistance and was actually threatened by local authorities. Sounds to me like the school didn’t expect all the bad publicity, triedto escalate things to shut the kid up, and had it backfire. Any betsthat the school official that started this ball rolling down hill andpicking up dirt is related to the cop who arrested the kid? And bothare related to the judge? Link to comment
Chantry
Seems the prosecution is doubling down on stupid. I see someone who is going to have plenty of money for college and probably quite a bit more. Link to comment
Virgil Ray Hality, SASS# 37355
bingo! and the GOA started a fund to help this kid out. Link to comment
Hacker, SASS #55963
This is not even about the 2nd Amendment. This is about the FIRST AMENDMENT. You know the one about freedom of speech. Link to comment
Colonel Dan, SASS #24025
My heart agrees with Joe when he expresses disgust about what's going on in WV while my head agrees with Hacker on this one. Although tangentially related to 2A, this is a 1A issue. While a serious example of the left's irrational hatred of anything to do with guns, let's refocus and not stray from the Team SASS primary mission of 2A. Thanks men... ~ Colonel Dan ~ Link to comment

Thanks men... ~ Colonel Dan ~ Hmmm....how about a 1st Amendment issue as the 1st relates to the 2nd? Would the kid be in trouble if his shirt had been anything other than gun related? I see it, at least originally, as the continued demonization of guns. Link to comment
Colonel Dan, SASS #24025
I agree with you Joe...as I wrote above, yet one more example of the left's hatred of guns. I seriously doubt anything would have been said had his t shirt promoted a left wing organization. Soldier on... Link to comment
