Ace_of_Hearts
I think that is the clear winner. 30-06 works fine on cast and with the box magazine you can load a higher bc cast, thus less drop. What is the flattest shooting lever gun/caliber shooting cast bullets ? That was the original question!
Doc Shapiro
The one that handles a caliber that shoots a really fast bullet. That's all "flat shooting" means. Ballistics being what they are, gravity doing what it does, the bullet starts to drop the moment it exits the barrel (assuming a level barrel). And that bullet will drop exactly the same amount over the same amount of time, regardless of weight or velocity. So the question is, how quickly do you want the bullet to reach it's target? The faster it gets there, the less it drops before it hits the target. It's really that simple. At least until you start working out air density, wind, elevation, and other variables. But practically for what you're asking, that stuff doesn't matter. Pick a caliber you like. If you can't get a lever gun in that caliber, then pick a lever gun you like and have it converted.
