Bottom Dealin Mike, SASS #22273 Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 I was most familiar with Traditions as an importer of muzzloaders and of cap and ball revolvers, but Traditions has begun importing a replica of Colt's Single Action Army revolver. But this is a replica with a twist. Traditions' SAA is equipped with a Ruger style, transfer bar safety. This feature will allow you to load all six chambers and safely carry the gun. Personally I feel fine with the traditional approach of only loading five chambers, but others may feel differently. Either way it is a nice SAA clone.
Bottom Dealin Mike, SASS #22273 Posted June 10, 2013 Author Posted June 10, 2013 I have one on my facebook writer's page that I think anyone can access https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=646105362070799&set=a.210992708915402.68789.208243842523622&type=1&theater
Patagonia Pete Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Beretta Stampede (Uberti version) used a transfer bar too. Hmmmm ... haven't seen those for a while ... wonder if they make those anymore??.
Abe E.S. Corpus SASS #87667 Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Uberti announced a new model at the Shot Show with a transfer bar ignition (Horseman, I think). I've not seen one in the flesh. I'm glad to see more single action revolvers enter the market. Competition is good for the consumer. Even if this particular revolver is not your cup of tea.
Creeker, SASS #43022 Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 A Pietta with a transfer bar. This gun has existed for a number of years. Previously branded as a Charles Daly.
Bottom Dealin Mike, SASS #22273 Posted June 10, 2013 Author Posted June 10, 2013 I've shot a lot several of the Charles Daly Pietta SAAs, but the ones I shot didn't have transfer bars. The Piettas assembled by Heritage arms had them, so they have been around for awhile.
Abilene, SASS # 27489 Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 The Century Arms Pietta has a transfer bar as well (some of their early samples did not). I briefly looked at the Uberti Horseman at Winter Range. The transfer bar system seemed different. The bar was narrower and thicker than others with a small "striker" at the top front of the bar which hits the firing pin. http://www.uberti.com/firearms/images/1873-horseman-transfer-bar-large.jpg That gun also has a coil main spring. I was not impressed with the action.
Creeker, SASS #43022 Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Mike, I may have mis spoke. I knew the Heritage's were Piettas equipped with transfer bars. But I had it in my head the CDs were as well and come out earlier. After looking up some literature, I may have been incorrect about the Charles Daly's.
