Went through the USS Batfish in Muskogee, OK., a number of years ago, and I thought that thing was constrictive.

 

It has way more room than this sub does.

 

One thing you can surmise from the photos - the Germans did not have their subs built by the "lowest bidder".

That was their MFV class of sub; More F***ing Valves.

It is hard to believe that only 50 years after someone finally figured out how to manufacture reliable self contained cartridges we were able to build something as complex as this.

These pics were taken aboard an ex-Soviet sub on display in San Diego harbor. The boat was built in 1975 which seems relatively new. They hadn't improved things much over the U-110. I can't imagine serving aboard one of these things as the living quarters, even for the sklpper were dreadful.
