Utah Bob #35998
The army ordered a bunch of them but they proved too difficult to stamp and the contract was cancelled. They got a good deal on Brit helmets and went with that design. After the war there were several experimental designs to replace the 1917 model but they didn't come up with a good one until the M1 was developed in '41. If anybody has a Dunand, a Libery Bell or a #5 experimental laying around I'll give ya at least a hunnert bucks cash for it.
Subdeacon Joe
Already have the #2 Experimental, Bob? ADDEDHere is a BOOK that has some interesting early tries at modern body armor. Amazing how much was lifted almost directly from the Greeks, Romans, and middle ages.
