Hashknife Cowboy
Anyone have some pointers for the disassembly of this rifle? Something internally broke and it needs to come apart to fix the darn thing. Lil help please....... Thanks to all, success! I did use a sideplate to slice my steak last night though....... Abilene, SASS # 27489
Loosen the two screws on the bottom just behind the carrier, to take tension off the lever screw. Remove the lever screw and the sideplate screw. The sideplates are dovetailed in front and rear so must be drifted upwards or downwards to remove. The edges are often sharp, so take care. Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933
If this is the first time the gun has had the side plates removed they will be TIGHT. Make sure you use a soft drift or you will damage the side plate. They are razor sharpe. Keep some bandaids nearby because if this is the first time you have taken one apart you WILL cut yourself. Three Foot Johnson
True dat. "I'm a careful guy and how sharp could they be anyway?", I sez... 'bout three minutes later, I was bleedin' like a stuck pig and looking for a tourniquet. (OK, maybe not quite that bad, but it felt like it)
