Are you guys saying that a real biker would never get on an EVO, but nobody would ever say a harsh word about an AMF shovel or a jap-bike-wannabe-FXR shovel?

I don't know either one of you, but the guys I know who ride the classic bikes would rather wave at another bike than look down their nose at it. Even if it's water-cooled!!

(btw the FXR is the best bike made so far, that's right even better than the '37!)

:P:lol:

also, for all the EVO haters, I saw an EVO dresser beat a Hayabusa at the Sacto drag strip!

Nope Never said EVO'S weren't good . :) Just saying I ain't never had a EVO, You all ride whatever you want.

I don't care for them. I love my bang tail, my kidneys don't but I do :o:lol:

Most people don't remember when Harleys were looked down on and despised by the riding public. Comments like "marking it's territory" and "gets lighter as you ride it" were common back in the sixties and seventies and even into the early eighties. Most Harley riders back then were considered thugs or lowlifes! Here's a little insight from one who has ridden most everything with two wheels , from an Ariel Square Four to the affore mentioned 'Busa!

AMF saved Harley Davidson from extinction. They introduced the hydraulic disc brake system, the alternator charging system, they replaced the magneto with a much more dependable ignition system, and while further much needed improvements came later they disposed of the total loss oiling system. Besides all of that, AMF preserved and funded the brand name until the "family" was able to buy the company back and finance it with the public sale of stocks..

The first thing the family did was to start on the development of the EVO, or Evolution engine redesign. Along with the other extensive quality control measures which were born under the AMF administration and improved by the new corporate leaders, they took the Harley Davidson brand back to the front of the motorcycle buying public's view. It wasn't until 1988 that Harley began to surge to the sales lead it enjoyed. Most of today's current group of Harley snobs weren't around when all of the "bad old days" of HD history were happening, and they certainly didn't ride Harley Davidsons back then! :o

My old ride was a Royal Enfield 500. (Royal Enfield, Built Like a Gun) Being a thumper it went "POta, POta, POta..."

As a friend of mine says,"It ain't what you ride, it's that you ride."

In a previous life, before I met Uno, I did ride. I started when I was married to my first husband and lived in rural Missouri. When the weather was good, it was a convenient and inexpensive way to get around. After I moved back here, I was able to pick up the Bimmer used from a friend of a friend for a good price. With a little work and extra cash, I had a pretty nice ride. When I had to lay that one down, I walked away and never looked back. Haven't been on a bike since. Don't think I'll ever do it again, especially around here. Too much traffic and too many nuts behind the wheels, two, four and 18.

Papas fritos!

That would be "Papas Fritas" because "PAPPAS" is in the feminine thus the "A" in the spelling.... Sorry , I make corrections like that daily in my classes. The same goes for names. For example, if you want to say "The Red Dog" in Spanish, it would be "El Perro Rojo" or "La Perra Negra" and not " El Blanco Perro" or "La Blanca Perra" unless you are describing a place/location such as restaurant etc... that could have that pronunciation/ name!

And that endeth the lesson for the day!!!! :D;):)

And yes, that's how my "89" Super Glide sounds :excl::D
