Seems Smith & Wesson and Sturm Ruger has expressed interest in acquiring the Freedom Group; makers of Remington and Bushmaster brands. Here's hoping they get restarted, under any owner. But with current climate for both economics and lever guns, I would not be holding my breath. It would sure seem to be better news to have an established gun maker like S&W or Ruger, both with good financials, in charge in Ilion rather than the nearly bankrupt Freedom Group. You would think investment groups would have learned by now (after a hundred years of sinking many good companies) that a firearms company is a very tricky thing to treat like a cash cow.
