STOCKTON, Calif. (KCRA) —Several
former teachers who survived a shooting rampage at a Stockton school
have formed a group to stand up for gun control, but not all the victims
from Cleveland Elementary School agree.

Rob Young, now 30, was 6 years old when he was shot at school.

"I
remember that day like it was yesterday," Young told KCRA 3. "I looked
down at my shoe, saw blood coming from my foot, and I looked at my
chest, and saw blood on my shirt."

Young
was shot in his chest and foot that day in 1989, when gunman Patrick
Purdy opened fire on campus, killing five children and wounding 29
others.

Now, Young is a police officer. He said it’s not the guns that hurt people. He is against gun control.

"What
people need to understand (is that) criminals will not give up guns,"
Young said. "In fact, they tried this in Australia, and the crime rate
actually went up."
