(KCRA) —Severalformer teachers who survived a shooting rampage at a Stockton schoolhave formed a group to stand up for gun control, but not all the victimsfrom Cleveland Elementary School agree. Rob Young, now 30, was 6 years old when he was shot at school. "Iremember that day like it was yesterday," Young told KCRA 3. "I lookeddown at my shoe, saw blood coming from my foot, and I looked at mychest, and saw blood on my shirt." Youngwas shot in his chest and foot that day in 1989, when gunman PatrickPurdy opened fire on campus, killing five children and wounding 29others.Now, Young is a police officer. He said it’s not the guns that hurt people. He is against gun control. "Whatpeople need to understand (is that) criminals will not give up guns,"Young said. "In fact, they tried this in Australia, and the crime rateactually went up."
