The dancing looks like the North Korean version of Kumbuya with a faster beat. That said, they did a pretty good job of kicking butt with the South Koreans and the 24th Infantry Division in 1950. I believe that was because nobody expected them to pull a fast one on the 38th parallel. Then the government ham strung the military so that they would not drag China into the conflict.
