Subdeacon Joe
Unfortunately, so far only minor players have done this. If Glock, Smith & Wesson, and other major players get on board, and extend the boycott to the federal level, then it may be effective. Until then all it is is a few mosquito bites, irritating, but ultimately something that can be ignored. Link to comment

Did you read where the CO Gov Hoppenpuffer (sp ) is reconsidering a bill because it might cost his state some JOBS!!! Hit em where it hurts. In the wallet. W Link to comment
Hacker, SASS #55963
Hickenlooser was referring to Colorado house bill HB13-1224 which limits magazines to 15 rounds. This would render one of Magpuls main products illegal for Co owners. Yet manufacturing would have to stamp the mag with the date of manufacture and a serial number and potentially other items as CBI would determine. Magpul told Hickenlooser and the colorado senate that it would pull many jobs from Co if this law passed. The Colorado house passed the bill after some changes were made to make it legal to make the mag in CO. Even though CO residents could not own the mag. The bill is now in the senate. probably waiting for some committee to review. After that the whole senate votes and then hickenlooser would have the opportunity to sign or not sign. By the way his proper name is Hickenlooper. Link to comment

W "From the mighty oak the little acorn grows." Something like that. And it is up to us to put pressure on the major players to follow the lead of those who have started the boycott. I don't care if the little companies are doing it mostly for the publicity just so they follow through on it. Link to comment

Subdeacon Joe
That's great. Now if they stand their ground. And also refuse to sell to officials in any state that bans their product for ordinary citizens. O’Malley aides say the bill could have outright banned manufacturingof assault weapons in the state but did not in part because of Beretta, which has agreed to meet with the administration on Monday to discussthe bill. “We think getting assault weapons off the streets andkeeping this company can both be accomplished,” said Raquel Guillory,O’Malley’s spokeswoman. But some lawmakers said Beretta will have to be a bigger part of the discussion before the bill passes. Del.Joseph F. Vallario Jr. (D-Prince George’s), whose district encompassesthe Accokeek plant, said he would do everything he could for thecompany. “We want to keep those jobs,” said Vallario, chairman ofthe House Judiciary Committee, which has a key role in approving thelegislation. As he walked along the production floor recently, Rehsaid Beretta officials say they do not want to leave their U.S.headquarters in Maryland. Relocating high-tech machiningequipment and vats of chrome used to plate Beretta barrels would becostly and out of character for a company that is still based in theItalian town where it began in 1526. The company’s Italianpatriarch, Ugo Gussalli Beretta, visited the plant shortly afterO’Malley introduced his gun-control bill, and the two discussed theissue. But Reh declined to say if the two reached any decisions aboutwhat would happen if the governor’s bill passes. “All I can tell you is, Mr. Beretta said, ‘There always seems to be a problem with Maryland.’ ” Looks like some of the politicians want to ban the product but keep the company. Col. Nathan C. Riddles, SASS # 7462
It's up to the customer base (including us) of the major players (Beretta, Colt, Glock, S&W & others) to contact them and urge them to refuse to sell to any agency whether it be federal, state or local that tries to restrict or INFRINGE upon the Second Amendment rights of any US citizen. We should also urge those companies located in anti gun state to pack up, lock stock & barrel and move to pro gun states. IE; I'm sure AZ & the city of Prescott would love to see Sturm Ruger move all their firearms manufacturing operations there from Conn. If law enforcement agencies located in anti gun states cannot purchase ammo & guns from any company at any price they will soon be demanding that the legislators repeal those laws. Same for the feds & military. Link to comment

We also need to think though to a way to help ensure the actual firearms manufacturers don't go out of business. Link to comment

Utah Bob #35998
Beretta is pushing. They're not a minor player. Beretta May Leave Maryland On the production floor of Beretta USA sits a hulking new barrel-making machine ready to churn out the nextobject of obsession in America’s love-hate relationship with guns: a civilian version of a machine gun designed for special operations forces and popularized in the video game Call of Duty. Beretta, the nearly 500-year-old family-owned company that made one of James Bond’s firearms, has already invested more than $1 million in themachine and has planned to expand its plant further in Prince George’sCounty to ramp up production. But under an assault-weapons ban that advanced late last week in the Maryland General Assembly, experts say the gun would be illegal in thestate where it is produced. Now Beretta is weighing whether the rifle line, and perhaps the company itself, should stay in a place increasingly hostile toward its products. Its iconic 9mm pistol — carried by every U.S. soldier and scores of police departments — wouldalso be banned with its high capacity, 13-bullet magazine. “Why expand in a place where the people who built the gun couldn’t buy it?” said Jeffrey Reh, general counsel for Beretta. Okay, so the reporter thinks every soldier is armed with a Beretta. The point is Beretta is grumbling and making legislators nervous. Come on Colt and S&W. Let's get with it. Link to comment
Col. Nathan C. Riddles, SASS # 7462
Beretta should set the example for the manufacturers and lead the way in pulling out of anti gun states and at the same time show the legislators that they cannot have their cake and eat it too. As far as folks losing their jobs that doesn't have to be for all employees. They could move with Beretta and keep their jobs. Some could take early retirement. Some have to partially blame themselves. The vast majority of anti gun legislators are commocrats err democrats whom the trade unions back and tell the workers to vote for. If they towed the union line and voted for those legislators they must accept part of the blame for losing their jobs. They too cannot have their cake & eat it too. Link to comment
