Madd Mike #8595
We must be very careful of what we ask for, I can see many years down the road, as 0-B0mb-a care will with morph into areas that will include the mental panel of competence for gun ownership. Anyone even thinking that the second amendment applies to citizens will be declared incompetent or mentally dificent. That will be the slippery slope that the maDD- one talks about from time to time. http://www.tiki-toki.com/timeline/entry/37146/A-History-of-Mental-Institutions-in-the-United-States/#vars!date=1792-10-01_19:10:17! Olen Rugged
... anyone have a serious suggestions in how to advance this issue? :huh:/> Cheyenne The FBI studied this problem in great depth after the Columbine High School shootings in 1999. They produced a report that contained numerous techniques aimed at prevention and intervention. Not once in the fifty-two pages did the phrase "assault rifle" appear. As you may know, the Columbine shootings occurred after five years of living with the first AWB. The authors of the report had this to say about the search for answers:"Under the intense spotlight of national media coverage, a tragedy such as the Columbine High School shooting spreads horror, shock, and fear to every corner of the country. Educators, mental health professionals, legislators, law enforcement officers, parents, students, and the rest of the public all share a sense of frustration and helplessness and a compulsion to take some quick action that can prevent similar incidents in the future. Though understandable, this impulse can lead communities to forget the wisdom of H. L. Mencken's aphorism: "For every problem, there is a solution which is simple, neat, and wrong." In a knee-jerk reaction, communities may resort to inflexible, one-size-fits-all policies on preventing or reacting to violence." The names have changed but the problem remains. Wagon Box Willy
As Madd Mike said, I would be concerned as to how what would seem to be a reasonable idea now would morph into something more. Just Monday I went to a Retnial specialist who's office was preparing for 2014 Obamacare. They had Camera's hooked up to their PC's and took my picture as they checked me in. The pretense is to prevent fraud...maybe so, but pretty soon that might be fingerprints and some DR's opinion on what the state my head is in.....Whatever is agreed upon needs to be iron clad!
