A prayer for Joe

Joe is my across-the-street neighbor. I went over and introduced myself the day after we moved in on April 15, 1977. I was the first person on our two block long cul-de-sac and Joe was the secon. As it stands now we are the only original residents of the entire three block wide by two block long tract. 37 years has whittled ed us down a lot.

He grew up in what we would call an abusive Mexican family in Colorado and ran away when he was about 12 to make his way to Boys Town, where he finished his schooling.

Joe was a Marine ground control specialist in Korea in the days when he received info by radio phone and wrote in backwards on a transparent board. He has two BA degrees in accounting and finance, and worked over 30 years for the phone company.

Joe has never been a shooter but for the last two years or so has been a fairly regular member of the Grumpy Lunch Bunch because he enjoys their company and is somewhat amazed that they seem to have accepted him.

His legs are gone and he has no balance, he can't hear anymore, and his health is slipping day by day.

His 81st birthday was just after the first of the year and today he went to San Antonio hospital with severe chest pains. Turned out to be a blocked artery, which they unblocked and he's resting now, but I'd sure be appreciative of a prayer or two for him...and I'm sure he'd appreciate it, too.

Thanks.

I've either sat next to or across the Table from Joe at the last 3 Grumpy Lunch Bunch. I've enjoyed talking with him. Tell him I send him best wishes for a speedy recovery. I'll say prayers for him too.

Well, this week has been sucky for Joe. I brought him home from the hospital Thursday P.M after a blocked artery was cleared.

I took him to the VA hospital in Loma Linda Friday mid-day in great pain and they cleared a blood clot in his catheter and I drove back to get him late that same night.

He called last night to tell me he was driving himself back to the VA because he "didn't feel well".

He's now in a Surgery UCU and they won't tell me squat because i"m not family. he's asleep and they won't wake him, and his cell phone message box is full.

I talked to the Deacon at his church and they are sending someone to visit him at home on Tuesday and I haven't even been able to tell Joe that they're coming, or if I should ask them to postpone the visit.

His daughter lives i20 miles away in San Diego and hasn't driven up to see him or even called to ask about him since I told her I brought him home on Thursday.

I don't know where to turn next.

More Prayers for Joe and his Family and Friends . -_-

Well he drove himself out to the VA hospital in Loma Linda again yesterday afternoon, goy home around 2100 hours and went back up this AM.

I find it very odd that he keeps getting things "repaired" and they break again within hours. Four new catheters in five visits to two hospitals.

I think he should walk in with a bag of assorted corks and tell them to find and plug all the leaks.
