Hangman Hank, sass #77995
has anyone used black powder subs in nmv .45 lc? how do they stand up to full loads?
Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933
Lots of people. It's a Ruger, a BP load generates no where near the pressure of a stout smokeless round so the guns will last forever shooting BP. The only issue is that some of the Rugers have very small cylinder gaps (.0015 to .002") and get hard to turn after a few rounds. Easily fixed by opening the gap just a tad. Dubious Don #56333
App seemed a bit dirtier to me; more so in 45 S&W/LC than 38 and was 'crunchier' as the day went on. Work the action at the loading table a bit or perhaps a spritz of my favorite gun juice and no issues. 777 seems cleaner to me, still my favorite sub. Jabez Cowboy,SASS # 50129
I use real Black (fffg)case full under a 250 RNFP. don't seem to bother the Ruger except it needs cleaning more offten than my Uberti's.... Jabez Cowboy
The Original Lumpy Gritz
Ruger=TANK Use the real stuff BTW, BP is far less chamber p.s.i than smokeless loaded to the same fps. LG
Utah Bob #35998
777 is a little hot but well within the tolerances for a NMV.
Doc Fill 'Em 67797
No issues in my New Vaqs with APP. Not full power but not mouse farts either. Clean up couldn't be easier, the fouling just wipes off (they're stainless). They ran fine for a two day match with no cleaning in between.
