Here is the comment I left on his Facebook posting about this:

 

Kind of odd how every report about the Hon. Mr. Thompson on the issue of firearms starts with "sportsman, hunter, gun owner, used assault weapons in Viet Nam." All which means jack about his willingness to toe the DNC anti-civil rights line. He has said openly that he wants "assault weapons" and "assault magazines" out of private hands. And, rather than just saying "preventing violence" which should be the goal, he parrots the mantra of "gun violence" as if all violence involves the use of firearms. Per the Centers of Disease Control's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, Oct. 3 2003, less than a third of violent crime involves the use of firearms. His opening remarks tip his hand - he want to pass many more laws further restricting our civil rights. He says that our failure to come together - that is, take away our 2nd Amendment civil rights - it will somehow reflect badly on us.

 

Mr. Thompson, how many of our civil rights are you willing to sacrifice for your Utopia? Are we looking at a new version of Exec Order 9066? That seems to be what you and our Senators are pushing for.
