Just sent the following to the useless in Washington:

 

Mr.President, Honorable Senators and Representative,

I'm writing to ask why you are so determined to turn millions of law-abiding citizens who have done nothing illegal into criminals.

I'm speaking of the gun owners of America. Honorable, honest, law-abiding citizens who happen to own firearms. They use them for sport, hunting, and shooting competitions. They handle and store them safely and responsibly. And yes, in many cases, they keep them on their person for self defense because in so many cases the police have admitted that unless shots are being fired they will not respond to a call for help. And by then it's too late. And yet they are now the target of a massive campaign to criminalize them just for owning a firearm.

 

Why? Because you, as a "governing" body have refused to enforce or make stricter the penalties for the use of firearms in the commission of a crime. Instead, it's much easier to take things away from those that are doing nothing wrong. You sit behind armed guards, travel with armed guards, are heavily protected wherever you are, and yet would deny the average Citizen the right to protect themselves. Are you somehow more worthy of protection than they? Is your life worth more than that of another citizen? That is the mentality of a ruling elite, not a governing body, and according to our Constitution, we are supposed to have a governing body, not a ruler.

 

Will you ever learn that when you enact your "feel good" legislation against guns, the only ones you take away are those owned by Citizens that would never use them illegally in the first place? Criminals love to see this happen because then they will be the only ones with firearms and can go about their business virtually unimpeded. They are criminals after all, yet you seem to think they will magically start obeying new gun laws? Really?

 

I echo the sentiments of Mr. Boston when he wrote about the fact that we are Citizens, not peasants, that we have a Constitution which determines the rights of our Citizens, and that you are NOT rulers, but rather an elected governing body that is supposed to be doing the will of the people. Not the other way around.

Thanks for posting the Dusty...I missed that on the NRA website. Good tool to assist in contacting all of your state and national elected officials.
