Paper Hires Armed Guards

According to police reports obtained by the Times, The Journal News' Rockland editor, Caryn McBride, filed at least two police reports after receiving numerous "negative" phone calls and emails about the maps.

One email writer questioned "what McBride would get in her mail now," according to the Times. The police found that email "did not constitute an offense."

To the owners and employees of the Journal News: Go cry us all a river you crybabies. You started this, but we are going to finish it.

BTW, do any of you REALLY believe any of that about "negative" emails and phone calls? <_<

To the subscribers to the Journal News: do you really want to support this paper with your money? There must be a better paper you can subscribe to for about the same cost.

From an article on Fox News:

"There is one apparent beneficiary of all the controversy: The paper's competitor, the Rockland County Times, claimed in an article to have seen an 'influx of new subscribers who stated they canceled their subscription to the Journal News due to the gun story.'"

I like that the editor showed some of the emails to the police who basically shrugged and said "Yeah? So what?" Seems that expressing your displeasure with something they published is considered threatening by the owners/editors.

The law was changed here in Va. a couple of years ago to prohibit newspapers from publishing the names and addresses of concealed carry permit holders. Such information is still a matter of public record, but if the public cares to know who's packing, they can drag their butts down to the county courthouse and look it up for themselves, rather than having the liberal newsrags spoon-feed it to them like they had been doing.
