St. Louis Suomi SASS #31905 Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Howdy: I just skip read the proposed nonsense form Frankenstein s website - Fixed 10 round mags seem to be the max she would allow (heavens no one could possibly hurt any one with THAT few rounds - too heavy or clumsy). Anyway, 24 in 92 generally have room for 12 plus one in the pipe. So, are these 12 (13) round 92's now assault weapons or does the exemption of lever action cover this issue? Also, pistols with hand guards in front of the trigger (legend/Rossi Ranch Hand) seem to be illegal - I guess the hand guard is what makes the clumsy to use Ranch Hand totally irresponsible and causes mental instability. Or am I just reading too much into this goofy bill? STL Suomi Quote
Cypress Sam, SASS #10915 Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 During the last "assault" weapons nonsense, Marlin put a shotgun-type plug in the magazine to limit the capacity. That might have been for the California laws instead, but I've seen several Marlins with plugs in the magazine. They are not hard to take out though. Quote
The Original Lumpy Gritz Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Yeah, my Marlin 'Cowboy Limited'.44 mag, had a wood dowel in the tube to cut it down to 10rnds. Didn't stay there long..... LG Quote

Yup...lived in Cali when I bought my Marlin Cowboy Limited in'98...and it had the plug. I removed it GG Quote
Jabez Cowboy,SASS # 50129 Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 What about a 1860 Henry in .44 Henry center fire flat with a 30 inch barrel ,,,,, will hold 17 plus one in the chamber ... Jabez Cowboy Quote
Marauder SASS #13056 Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 (edited) In early 2000's California had such a ban and yes our guns were banned. They had to get a special exemption for lever actions and allow us to go to EOT. Edited December 31, 2012 by Marauder SASS #13056 Quote

Hollifer A. Dollar Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 It's not just the magazine capacity - remember that the 73 is available with a "pistol grip". The draft legislation I have seen posted on several sights included the phrase "...or as determined by the Attorney General". Any time you put the discretionary decisions in the hands of an appointed bureaucrat, there will be trouble...especially bureaucrats appointed by the current administration. Holler Quote
Six-Shot Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 According to Feinstein's "gun ban bill", any semi-automatic or center-fire/rim-fire rifle with a barrel shorter than 30 inches that can hold more than 10 rounds is illegal (except for .22 caliber rifles with tubular magazines). That encompasses a whole lotta' "cowboy action rifles"! Quote
Tom Bullweed Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 As much as I would hate to do it to my original Winchesters, I would opt to have th mags shortened to hold only ten rounds before I would turn the guns in or risk gun ownership by owning an illegal gun. We have enough load-on-the-clock stages to make this tactically negligible. Quote

Grizzly Adams 3674 Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Fellers, Frankenstein can propose all the crap she wants - getting it passed is another issue. I say instead of stewing about what MIGHT be, we be vocal and proactive with the folks we elect to congress. This thing is not a done deal.......just saying. Quote

Jabez Cowboy Yep, it could be a problem. My Henry was delayed in importing back under the orignial ban until an exemtion was issued. What idiots! Quote
