Red Gauntlet , SASS 60619 Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 I think that these days, in many spheres, we have more to worry about from the corporations than we do from the government: http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/12/18/a-rising-chorus-but-not-quite-consensus-on-guns/?hp
The Original Lumpy Gritz Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 Just a ploy and CYA move because of the lawsuits that will be coming. LG
Dogmeat Dad, SASS #48563L Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 There is another article out there that says the reason for the sale is that the California Teachers Retirement group is the single largest investor in Cerubus. They threatened to pull out if Cerebus didn't sell Freedom Group. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/dec/18/cerberus-sell-gunmaker-freedom-group "Cerberus had come under pressure from the California State Teachers' Retirement System (CalSTRS) which said on Monday it was reviewing its investment with the private equity firm following the school shooting." Pulp, SASS#28319 Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 The California Teachers Retirement group is the primary reason Weyerhaeuser sold all of its paper mills. Which, by the way, at least the one I worked at was making money in HUGE amounts. Not enough immediate return on investments they said.
Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172 Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 In light of the QC problems that both Remington and Marlin are currently embroiled in, I wonder what will become of them when the sale goes down. Also, who would be the the buyer? Interesting that a Teachers Union would be denouncing a company called The Freedom Group. Wonder what they are teaching our kids?
