St. Louis Suomi SASS #31905 Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Howdy: I have been reading some reviews on both since I squirrled away a small amount of cash which I intend to squander on some frivolous toy. Most reviews were not too excited about the Mossberg 30-30; however, most reviews on the Rio Grande 30-30 were positive. Last review I saw on the Rio Grande shows it to be a 336 knockoff with many of the internals being virtually identical (not swappable, however). So, with deer season rapidly approaching (bow season is HERE), which is best and if one is better, why? (Also could use these in side matches - methinks). STL Suomi Quote
Rooster Ron Wayne Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Well the Mossberg is a copy of a Winchester . The Rossi is a copy of a Marlin . So I would say at the least the Rossi will have a much Stronger Action . Quote
Straight Arrow Hombre Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 I'd buy a nice used marlin. I hear they made a number of them so they shouldn't be hard to find. Quote
St. Louis Suomi SASS #31905 Posted October 18, 2012 Author Posted October 18, 2012 Howdy: I have several Winchesters and Marlins and Rossi-92's - I was just wondering what the Rio Grande was like compared to the Mossberg 464 (fit/finish - functionality). Thanks for the observations. I appreciate you taking time to respond. STL Suomi Quote
