Lets talk about the original SASS points race, THE TRIPLE CROWN . The Triple Crown was in great company for 2012 with several other combination or points races like the TEXAS 3 Step,The Tri-State Championship, and The Dixie Cup just to name a few. The executive directors of the Triple Crown series have been working tirelessly on the 2013 series of matches. I even hear tell of some late night negotiations possibly even involving ALCOHOL. Currently there are more than 6 matches working out the details with the Final 3 to be announced before the end of the year. Lets Play where's the TRIPLE CROWN 2013. That match's attendance has been steady to declining at less than 150 shooters while the U.S. Open has been seeing increases since its inception. Midwest Classic U.S. Open 2007 - 118 N/A 2008 - 147 N/A 2009 - 147 2009 - 181 2010 - 165 2010 - 195 2011 - 142 2011 - 204 2012 - 140 2012 - 296 I have nothing against either match (in fact I have attended nearly each of them) but they are held at the same facility with the chances of better weather at the US Open so I'm just curious as to why more are naming the Midwest Classic? Both are good matches put on pretty much by the same people so why one over the other? Is it simply a scheduling issue with more competition from other fine matches in September?
