He was a hero in West Texas even though an Okie. Heck, he was a hero for the world!!!! A testament to his popularity is the big bronze statue of him mounted on Soapsuds at the entrance of Texas Tech University in Lubbock. Supposedly, Soapsuds butt is pointed directly at Texas A & M!
