What have you got?I have 357-38.Would like a rifle,but a carbine might have to work.I think I want a 357-38,but I might take a 45cal in a 92.Must have a 20" barrel.If you have a 66 it would have to have the lever safety.Maybe a 32-20 will work.

I have a 20" octagon brass frame EMF with the good wood and sights in 45. It has the full race action job by Nate Kiowa Jones. I love this gun.

Hadn't really thought about selling it but I guess I would. But I would want $750 shipped. If I weren't desperate I wouldn't even consider selling it. But I retired and the retirement checks haven't started coming in like I figgered they would. Meanwhile the bills are never late arriving...

I don't know if any of the REPRODUCTION Model 1866 Winchesters had the "lever safety" (safety bar??), but the original Winchester 66's did not. I agree; I don't think (as earlier noted) that this feature appeared on original Winchester lever guns until the Model 1873's hit the market.

I don't recall ever seeing any reproduction Model 92's with braas receivers, but they might be out there.

Some of the older 66 re-pros had the lever safety and a 73 type trigger but the frame size is different than what is widely available now and the parts do not interchange. There were some Winchester 73s produced with a 66 type trigger and no lever safety also. There are brass framed 92s out there(rossi) or at least brass plated, not sure.

The 92 are all brass.I have one.The 66 that I have has a lever safety.

The 92s are not brass. They are steel with brass plating. If your 66 has a lever safety it is very old production (1960's or early 70's) and there are no parts available for it. As I noted earlier no current production 66's have lever safeties.

The 92 is all brass.Call NKJ.The 66 has 3 diget serial number.

Steve is the expert on 92s. But being like doubting Thomas have you tried sticking a magnet on the receiver? If it don't stick I just learned that they have changed from plating to real brass. It's good to learn at least one new thing a day.

I am NOT 100% sure that they are solid brass.

I do believe they are brass Plated .

Either way, I really like the looks of them my self.

If I ever find one in a 44 mag /44 special it WILL come home with me. :D

No sir, the brass Rossi 92s have always been brass since they first came out with them at least a decade ago. They were never just plated. They are still making them the same way today.

The Albatross

my 1866

I hate to dispell any rumours, but

I have an EMF 92 (BRASS frame) stainless 24" bbl I call her the Albatross. checked the magnet test b4 I read down and saw someone suggest it. It is NOT steel...brass all the way,

and

I have a fairly recent EMF 66, bought it new about 3 years ago. and it does have the lever lock.

and sorry neither one if for sale...just thought I would help the discussion. (the 92 is in 45lc and the 66 is 38sp and both are tack drivers.

ps: just for informational purposes: my 1866 was made by Uberti and the 1892 was made by Rossi and has the Hartford markings from EMF

The discussion is about the lever safety not the lever lock.

Well sorry if I was mistaken, but I have never seen a "lever safety", and Uberti in the seechmatics of the 66 and the 73 refer to the "lever lock" as a lever hook. So guess I just ain't up to the terms used.(i forgot about "that lever safety" Old Top almost got one with it and we talked him out of it..good thing..)

I will go back to what I know best..... which isn't much these days...)

I bought a super slick great wood 73 off of here a good while back.Did not ask if it has a lever safety. when I got it the safety had been removed and it had a welded trigger in it.I got all the parts to put the safety back in and the parts for the trigger.I did not trust myself not to hit the trigger before I closed the bolt.Love it with the safety in it.I just love the brass guns.

NKJ has been mentioned a couple of times and I emailed him about turning a Rossi Stainless octoganal 26" 92 into a "B" western "Henry" and while it was too expensive for me at the time, he has done it before and it could be in your $$ range. So my understanding is that you plate the stainless with copper and then with brass and not sure what else is really needed other than another rifle/magazine "bracket", not sure of the correct term. He works over the whole gun with one of his "action jobs", and I am paraphrasing so contact him and ask to do his explanation justice. Still want to do it and make believe I am "Ed McBain" but will have to wait. i really like his modified Mare's Leg too, looks just like Steve McQueen's and not the longer version that is out there. Oh Well Christmas is coming.
