Abilene Slim SASS 81783
This past Saturday my 84-year-old stepdad Don, passed away after a lengthy battle with heart disease. I'm not sure if stepdad is really appropriate since he & my mom married when I was 36, but so what. (My real dad had passed away when I was 30 at the ripe old age of 56.) Don was an ex-marine, surgeon, avid fisherman, bird hunter and shotgunner. Most important, he was a devoted and loving husband to my mom for 23 years and the only grandfather my 2 boys ever knew. He was also a good friend to me. I'm traveling to St. Louis today for the visitation and funeral is tomorrow so will be off the wire for a several days. In the meantime drinks are on me. Please raise a glass and a tip o' the hat to a fine Irish gentleman.
