Bullet Diameter for .32 S&W Long

I've been thinking about getting a mold and making my own bullets for my Ruger .32 but I don't know if the .32 S&W Long/.32 H&R Magnum needs a .311 or a .314 bullet. Or does the .003" really make a difference?

 

I've seen several ".32" caliber bullet molds for both .311 and .314 but I don't know which is correct for my pistol.

 

I know someone out there can help me out.

Hey cowboy, yes it can make a difference. Depends on where your pistols are on paper. Depends on the distance your gonna shot em. For our Ruger Single Six 32H&R's, Shootin at 5-9 yards pistol targets, I only reload using .313 dia bullets. But hey, I like em that way.

OK Dee gave you the right answer.

32 S&W Long and Short, as well as 32 H&R mag. barrels have a nomonal diameter of .312. In keeping with standard procedures, the .312 barrels should use lead bullets of .313, although I know for certain that bullets of .314 will work in them also.
