Lets have a look at the evidence: - No Christmas - No television -No nude women - No football - No pork chops or bacon - No hot dogs - No burgers - No beer or RUM - Rags for clothes - Diapers for hats - Constant wailing from some idiot in a tower - More than one wife More than one mother in law - You can't shave - Your wife can't shave - You can't wash off the smell of donkey - You cook over burning camel $^it - Your wife is picked by someone else for you - and your wife smells worse than your donkey Then they tell you that "when you die, it all gets better"?? Well no $^it Sherlock!.... It's not like it could get much worse.

I know this was meant as a lighthearted post, but if you really think about it...it's a very scary enemy that will never give up, when mothers are raising their children to this form of sacrifice. We will, over time, tire and depart...just like every foreign presence in the area since Alexander the Great...and they apparently never will. So what's it all about?

I have puzzled over that same question for some time. Given that their numbers run in to the high millions if not billions, what have we to gain and where are we going with our war? I know that they attacked us on 9-11, but we have been dancing with their culture for a lot of years. Wars rarely if ever solve the problems that started them, but in this case, I doubt that there is any logical answer to the chasm that exist between the two cultures. I suspect that one will destroy the other. Which one will be left standing? I have no idea. I do not believe our technology will be the answer in the long run. It is hard to defeat the dedicated human resolve with machines.

Hows that for non PC? Well, I guess you win the non PC award. Sadly, there is a nugget of truth in those words. Peaceful coexistence is not a real option in my opinion. But there is another axiom that is going around, that states that the fellow who has to actually fight the war is the one least likely to embrace it. I guess that the only real option, in my opinion, is that we need to keep ahead of them with technology and weapons systems. But then again, given the current state of the country's finances, and the ability to produce materials, the cost of doing that may be more than our current economy could bear. No doubt about it the middle east is a powder keg, and I think Iran has a lighted match. But then North Korea is playing with fire also, and they are not in the middle east. In any situation, I doubt that a trip to the mall or a new Ipod will solve our delemma. BMC is stepping off his soap box and has left the building.

Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan and Attila the Hun conquered countries. Those that didn't submit were exterminated. Sometimes they were exterminated anyway but that's a different chapter. War should be a last resort but if necessary, leave the reporters and politicians at home and get the job done quickly and ruthlessly. Yea I know, diplomacy is not my strong suit when it comes to terrorists.

The following posts about the original post made me consider... the sad reality is that the religion is the glue that transcends the nationalism of the area. They view the rest of the world on a religous basis not so much on a national basis. So it's not; Iran against the US or Iraq against the US or England concept, it is Islam against the non Islamic world. Going all the way back to the Crusades, the nationalistic European mindset, never understood the Islamic religion based concept of one god Allah. Not all Islamic people are radical and advocate killing all infidels, but a large segment do. I do not hear Catholic, Baptist,Protestant, Hindu, Jewish, etc clerics advocating killing all non believers in those religions though. There is some 1500 years of what is viewed as religious oppression and religious fervor by the followers of Muhammad to wrap your mind around to understand the Jihadist concept.

I guess I just run in different social groups. When I wuz five, the mothers in the neighborhood would not let their daughters socialize with me. Things have never changed. Only difference is now Momma won't let me "socialize" with ANY OF THEM. She has a king size rolling pin.

Emergency talks with Al Qaeda have so far failed to produce an agreement. The unrest began last Tuesday when Al Qaeda announced that the number of virgins a suicide bomber would receive after his death would be cut by 25% this February from 72 to 54. A spokesman said increases in recent years in the number of suicide bombings has resulted in a shortage of virgins in the afterlife. The suicide bombers' union, the British Organization of Occupational Martyrs (or B.O.O.M.) responded with a statement saying the move was unacceptable to its members and called for a strike vote. General Secretary Abdullah Amir told the press, "Our members are literally working themselves to death in the cause of Jihad. We don't ask for much in return but to be treated like this is like a kick in the teeth". Speaking from his shed in Tipton in the West Midlands, Al Qaeda chief executive Haisheet Mapants explained, "I sympathize with our workers concerns but Al Qaeda is simply not in a position to meet their demands. They are simply not accepting the realities of modern-day Jihad in a competitive marketplace. Thanks to Western depravity, there is now a chronic shortage of virgins in the afterlife.
