Friend - someone with whom you share mutual likes and dislikes. You get along well together and enjoy each others company. Also talk about the joys and sorrows of life, help them if needed. A pal - someone you hang out with, have good times. Don't necessarily have deep and meaningfuls with. An Acquaintance - someone you know in passing, exchange an occasional pleasantry with. May or may not know his name. A buddy - kind of a cross between a pal and a friend. A sidekick - someone you get into and out of trouble with. Then you have a beer and laugh about it.
