Other than the folk who would kick sand in yo face for not spending $1500 for an authentic long range rifle. Would the wood version in 45/70 be okay with the Plainsman rules?

Well, the Contender isn't legal so I doubt the Rossi would be. Neither is a replica of a 19th century rifle.

 

BUT, it looks like the Rossi's action is more like the H&R, so who knows.

Wow, they don't know anything about making stocks for hard-kicking rifles! That monte carlo cheek piece would kick your side teeth all the way down your throat, having that steep and wrong-way slant on the comb.

NOT "as is".

Considering that a number of features of that rifle are NOT "SASS LEGAL" for Plainsman/Long Range sidematches (and the expense to make it so)...you might be better off to look for a H&R/NEF single-shot instead.

I bought a Wizard in .223 a llittle over a year ago..

in the 1st 40 shots ,the transfer bar broke. ;( back to the factory. :(

a few months later ,s omething else broke,so..back to the factory.

I can't get it to group worth a darn with facory ammo or reloads,been trying eve since it was new to shoot groups.. It patterns well tho. Grrr

 

IMHO, BUY SOMETHING ELSE...ANYTHING ELSE !
