Does anyone have any info on combination guns?A.K.A Cape guns?

I recently saw an antique that (other than being WAY out of my price range) looked perfect . It looked like a beautiful old dbl barrel shotgun with exposed hammers . But one barrel was 45/70, and the other was 10 gauge !

Does anyone know of a place that makes anything like this?

Savage made a 22/410 and later added 22/20 over and under. In more recent times they had combinations from 22, 223, 30/30, 357 over 20 and 12. The 22/410 seems like the best balance of them all. Great little rabbit gun. I have a 22/20 camper model that came with its own case that breaks down to a small package with extra shell storage in its stock. Still a great combination if going after mixed game. Not sure what you are going after, but check Gun Broker and other gun auction sites, Model 24 - http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=301195515

A friend of mine has a 22/410 with double triggers that is murder on small game. It is one sweet shooting gun. If you find a good one, they're handy to have.

I have a friend who is a full-time museum taxidermist (one of the last in the country.) His work has been displayed all over the country, including the Smithsonian. He has a 410 insert that he takes with him to collect "foo-foo" birds without damaging them. (What a life-rich museum patrons pay him to go with them on safari to collect specimens).

Also, as a side note, his favorite knife is a Schrade old timer/sharpfinger for skinning and caping.

I don't suppose you know if it'll work on a stoeger coachgun do you? That would be cool. I'd defiantly get me a 45/70 insert.
