Flat Water Bob
I bought a Baby Dragoon in 31 cal. I am interested to know suggested powder charges and also if you over-powder lubed wad, etc. Thanks
Slowhand Bob, 24229
I will be interested in watching for replies as I have two of the '49 Colts and a pair of the little Remmies also. Without further input I would just go with my standard cap and ball methods which include a small dab of Crisco over each ball and no wads. Tends to be a bit messy for me BUT what the heck, I'm a messy guy anyway! I do tend to keep plenty of paper towels and Ballistol on hand when shooting black powder. Before starting with the .31s I will definitely need a source for the little balls as all of my balls are really big.
Prairie Dawg, SASS #50329
10 grains FFFg + lubed wad + .315 round ball = too much fun You may go up in powder if you have the space. You can forget the wad & put lube over the ball (leaves room for more powder). You may need a slightly larger round ball. --Dawg

Fingers McGee
.319 roundball, lubed wad, 10-12 gr fffg, #10 Remington cap is what works in my Uberti Pocket Model. Chamber size of ASMs are tight enough for a .315; but Uberti's usually run a little larger
Marcus (Doc) Arroyo #40370
I usually find 00 buckshot to be less expensive and easier to obtain. A touch harder to load, but shoots as accurate.
Pulp, SASS#28319
My Remington Pocket .31 requires .321 balls. Anything smaller won't shave a ring off the ball when seated.
