Fireworks problem in San Diego?

Recommended Posts

Article in SD Newspaper. Union-Tribune Article On Fireworks Show

A single shell was fired as a signal to set the timing. Santore, who gave that signal from the roof of the Hilton Bayfront, said some rogue version of that initial signal “told” 7,000 shells to fire at once.

7,000 shells. Wish I could have seen it.

A computer glitch deep inside fireworks programming software created what’s been dubbed the Big Bay “blunder” on July Fourth, the show’s chagrined operator said Thursday.

1) Blame it on the computer. Isn't that always the conclusion when you want to pass the blame?

2) I'll bet some software engineer is going to loose their job over this. That's a mighty expensive "oops".

To use a word which is much overused in today's vernacular, and one which I selodm use myself as I always try to avoid hyperbole...
