Hacker, SASS #55963
Tragic turn of events. One body has been found in one of the destroyed homes. Got this live from krdo. 2910 Rossmere St. A homicide team is investigating. Standard police procedure. One person associated with that address is currently missing. At the 4pm incident press conference it was stated that there were people missing. IIRC the number was 10 persons. ABC national news misrepresented this fire as arson. That has not been confirmed and has been denied by El Paso County Sheriffs office.
Calico Mary
They've also caught one couple suspected of burglarizing a home in the evacuation area. I can't believe some life forms like these two actually qualify as human! The fire out by Palisade has grown to 10K acres, shut down I-70, and caused the evacuation of the town of De Beque. This morning there's reports of a new one up near Eagle. Sure wish we could get a few GOOD rains, not the pathetic sprinkles that have come through the last few nights. I'm afraid it ain't over yet.... Prayers up for the family and friends of the victim(s), may the Good Lord bless and help them through this difficult time. Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984
have not and appear not to be willing to reveal how many houses have burned. I-24 corridor appears to have held. I-24 is expected to remain closed from CS west for the forseeable future. This may make it difficult for the next Colorado Cowboy match. Did you mean US-24 or I-25? Calico Mary
Highway 24 is the one that's closed til further notice, from the Springs to I'm not sure how far west. I know for a while there was a portion of I-25 closed in the Springs, not sure if it still is. They also had to close a portion of I-70 out by Palisade because of the fire there. Hacker, SASS #55963
Sorry that was US-24 that is closed from cave of the winds to a spot out near woodland park. I-25 was closed for a few hours on Tuesday. It has been opened since. The two low lifes arrested for burglary are druggies, at least they had meth on them. They were arrested by Colorado Bureau of Investigation. Containment is now listed as 15 % on that inciweb site. 16,750 acres burned total. City of Colorado Springs is updating the number of homes destroyed 347 was the last number. Inciweb site Colorado Springs City site.
