Hacker, SASS #55963
One article says it is taking on 1000 gallons of water per minute while they work on it. When they came in on Saturday they could see that it was listing to the left and sitting lower. That is a lot of water. Hardpan Curmudgeon SASS #8967
Reckon it'd be a mite expensive to drydock the old girl... Hmm... Come to think of it, whatever happened to Sgt Drydock~? Haven't seen him here in ages!
Jack Houston # 35508
SAD !!! I remember when I was a kid, you could go from crow's nest to the keel and there were AA guns on deck you could crank back and forth. Now it's just too old. Alot of money has been spent on it over the years to no avail really.

Hacker, SASS #55963
Perhaps it is time for the Texas to be placed in a permanent dry dock. Kind of like the dock that HMS Victory is in. It is my recollection that Texas is the oldest Battleship existing. The "protected cruiser" Olympia C-6 is even older. The next oldest US BBs are North Carolina (1965) , Alabama(1964) and Massachusetts(1965). So they have been 47 years since navy hands. Then of course the 4 IOWAs. But the IOWAs were decommisioned within the last 20 to 32 years.
