Black Harris #154
Are the flames or smoke getting to EoT? BH
grubstake charlie
Flames are a long long ways away (3 plus hour drive). We shot at Founders Ranch today for Buffalo Range Riders monthly match. If there was any smoke I did not notice it. It was clear and we had a light breeze. You can track this yourself if you want. See fire locations and smoke predictions/satellite overlaps by going to weatherunderground.com - Enter Albuquerque or Edgewood NM as the location - Seclect Wundermap on the "Maps and Radar" pull down - Quite a ways down on the list on the right click "Fire" You will see any smoke impacts as a overlay. Typically I have to zoom out several clicks to see smoke. I do not live near Edgewood and could not tell you if they have had any days with smoke. Edward R S Canby, SASS#59971
Flames are hundreds of miles away. Smoke has impacted air quality in Central New Mexico. Magdalena's match on Saturday was very smokey. The match at Founder's Ranch today had some visible smoke but not bad. This huge fire may persist until EOT. Guest Chief
Was up in the forest yesterday, a lot of smoke and flames, a bunch of fire fighters there, heard that it was 15% contained today, Looks as if the FF got an early hold on it, at least we hope so
Big Sage, SASS #49891 Life
We had a change in wind direction yesterday here in the 4 Corners area and we got smoke...not a lot just lots of haze instead of clear skies. No wind this am yet, still hazy. We have a fire going near Pagosa Springs (100 miles east), no way to tell if smoke is from there or NM. A couple of years ago when there was a big fire in N Az, we got lots of smoke from it. A lot depends on wind and which way it is blowing.
El Mulo Vaquero, SASS #55942
In Farmington, we have had some days with very heavy smoke. Just depends on wind direction. Please think of the fireman working this fire. 350 square miles burning. From a proud Firemans Dad. El Mulo
Buckskin James
The smoke is real heavy here in the Southcentral part of the state. Our prevailing wind in Southwesterly and The Gila is SW of us. It backs up against the Sacrementos and just hangs here. You know you live in NM when the weather forecast says..."Sunny today with highs near 100 degrees and a chance of smoke...." Headed south in the AM. are there any roads closed ??? Jabez Cowboy According to this state road map only NM route 159 near the fire is closed. Check the map for road conditions. The only closures recently have been for motorcyclists losing control at high speed on local freeways. There is no contruction that affects routes to Founders Ranch. Today we have an east wind and there is no trace of smoke in the air. If there is a few beers will wash the irritation out of your throat. Lowest price for gasoline locally that I have seen is $3.48 a gallon in case you are interested.

Jabez Cowboy Same ratio of gasoline to diesel price here. Some Indian gaming casinos subsidize diesel prices to lure in truckers. Use the internet to search for the best deals. Also, some truck stops downtown have crime problems. Be careful where you fill up.
Olen Rugged
Thanks For the info ... What are your diesel prices like ??? Up here Diesel is 16% higher than Gas ... Thanks again ... Jabez Cowboy $3.54 and up near the Big I (I40 and I25) Cheaper prices out north in Bernalillo or in the NE (Juan Tabo Blvd NE & Indian School Rd NE) Try http://www.albuquerquegasprices.com/ and look at the Diesel Fuel tab. If you have a recent GPS device they nearly all have a feature that locates fuel nearby. It usually resides in the "Points of Interest". Iron Pony
Was down in Belen to visit my folks last week and a couple of times the ALbq TV stations were advising people with respritory problems to stay indoors. I noticed the haze over Albq flying in and every once in a while got a whiff of smoke but thats all.
