Dead Horse

Recommended Posts

I just found my old horse dead in the pasture.

He was old and retired and we have been riding younger ones lately, but just last Thursday I saddled up old Buddy and went for a 3 mile ride down the road. He still had some run in him, just not much, but I let him run because he wanted to.

He was our first horse, a local barrel racer of some success, and he taught us many things. Things like pay attention to my ears, boyo, 'cause I can still jump 10 feet sideways when I see a ghost! Things like, I am the boss horse when it comes to food, and don't anybody forget it!

It was time for him to go, but I will sure miss him.

Rest in peace, Independence (born July 4th), aka "Buddy."

Feeling a bit down,

eGG

So sorry to hear about that, El Gato. I've gone through that a couple times and it's never easy. But those good memories last forever.

I waz dating a girl just b4 meeting GramaPhyllis, and her mother called me one morning and insisted I take her daughter out and show her a good time....reason: he favorite horse had passed, and mom didn't want her to be there when they took it away..

we went to Disneyland and had a real good time, but just before we got home she finally broke down...

I can only imagine the pain....sorry and prayers up

My Grampaw loved horses and tolerated humans so I know how you feel...

Do not stand at my grave and weep,

I am not there; I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow,

I am the diamond glints on snow,

I am the sun on ripened grain,

I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning’s hush

I am the swift uplifting rush

Of quiet birds in circling flight.

I am the soft star-shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry,

I am not there; I did not die.

It's never easy saying goodbye to our 4-legged friends and I'm sorry that you had to do so. How nice though that you got to go on that last ride and I'm sure that memory will eventually put a smile on your face.

Run with the wind, Buddy!

Sorry for your loss el Gato Gordo.

We know from the Scriptures that there are horses in Heaven.

Revelation 19:11 (KJV)

And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him [was] called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

God bless,

Birdgun
