Trailrider #896
Howdy, Pards, Just noticed in the paper (Denver Post) that today is the day, back in 1836, that the brave defenders of the Alamo fell to Santa Ana's sword, after holding out 13 days. So we take our hats off slowly to the Men of Alamo! Eternal vigilance is the price of Liberty! Godspeed to those still in harm's way in the defense of Freedom everywhere! God Bless America! Tango Mike 20653
I don't know who JHC is ... I guess he wrote it. But this poem has been around Texas a while: Let the old men tell the story Let the legend grow and grow Of the thirteen days of glory At the siege of Alamo. Lift the tattered banners proudly While the eyes of Texas shine. Let the fort that was a mission Be an everlasting shrine. Once they fought to give us freedom, That is all we need to know Of the thirteen days of glory At the siege of Alamo. JHC
