Big Jake1001 Posted March 4, 2012 Share Posted March 4, 2012 I found this video of "Lucky Smucky". This is what it looked like at some of the early days at Coto de Caza Calif. I see the Big leather badges we wore, then they got smaller for a few years. I see U.S.Grant giving Smuck a prize. I also see R J Poteet with a white cowboy hat on in the background when Smucky get up and goes inside to get his prize. The rocking Cactus you had to shoot around with only 1 handgun back then. Pull rifle and shoot Buffalo's while cactus was still rocking. If your rifle only held 7 rounds (30-30 carbine were legal then) you would yell "STOP" and the guy with the stop watch would stop it while you loaded 3 more rounds out of your shirt pocket. You yelled "GO" and they would start the watch again. It looks like Smuck was shooting a Marlin carbine in .45 Colt.
